MODEL AND YEAR: 1985 CARPRICE/IMPALA WITH 4.3L ENGINE (VIN CODE Z)

Some 1985 Caprice/Impalas with 4.3L Throttle Body Injection (TBI) engines may experience a hesitation on a tip-in acceleration maneuver. This condition may occur during warm-up or after the vehicle has reached normal operating temperature.

This condition can be corrected by installing a new Service PROM as listed below. Federal vehicles also require a new EGR valve.
