Removal Procedure


    Object Number: 1640439  Size: SH
  1. Remove the sound insulator. Refer to Instrument Panel Insulator Replacement.
  2. Remove the clutch pedal engine start switch and retainer from the clutch pedal bracket. Depress the switch retainer lock tabs to release the retainer.
  3. Disconnect the clutch pedal engine start switch electrical connector.

Installation Procedure

  1. Connect the electrical connector to the clutch pedal engine start switch.
  2. Install the clutch pedal engine start switch and retainer to the pedal bracket with the switch electrical connector closest to the instrument panel. Press the switch retainer firmly into the pedal bracket to secure the lock tabs.
  3. Press the switch down fully into the switch retainer.
  4. Adjust the clutch pedal engine start switch:
  5. 4.1. If a new clutch pedal assembly is being installed, the pedal will include a clutch pedal engine start switch adjustment spacer in place over the switch contact rubber bumper.
    4.2. If the pedal assembly is being reused, position a 4 mm (5/32 in) drill bit or hex wrench as a spacer over the face of the switch contact rubber bumper.
    4.3. With the adjustment spacer, drill bit, or hex wrench in place, depress the clutch pedal to full travel. As the pedal reached full travel an audible noise will be heard as the switch ratchets back in the retainer to position.
    4.4. Remove the adjustment spacer, drill bit, or hex wrench.
  6. Inspect for proper operation of the clutch pedal engine start switch.
  7. Install the sound insulator. Refer to Instrument Panel Insulator Replacement.
