The following diagnosis might be helpful if the vehicle exhibits the symptom(s) described in this PI.
Condition/Concern:
A dealer may encounter a customer concern of a SES light on with a DTC P244B set. This PI is to advise dealers that a new calibration has been released to aide in DPF repairs.
Recommendation/Instructions:
If a dealer has completed the current SI diagnostics, and was led to a DPF regeneration, a new calibration has been released that allows a regeneration at a higher soot level. Previously if a vehicle has reached a specific soot level threshold, the regeneration was inhibited, and the DPF would need to be replaced.
If the SI diagnostic has directed the technician to complete a regeneration, verify the new calibration is installed in the vehicle before attempting the DPF regeneration. The new calibration can be found in TIS2000 with the title ""P0402, P041D Robustness Improvement, Allow Exhaust Filter Service Regen w/ P244B set, Turn off P009E & P2459, EGR Max Service Device Control increased to 10 minutes."
Continue with SI diagnostics/repairs and evaluate the customer concern.
Please follow this diagnostic or repair process thoroughly and complete each step. If the condition exhibited is resolved without completing every step, the remaining steps do not need to be performed.
