For 1990-2009 cars only
- Install the 2 third gear band apply tube O-ring seals (53).
- Install the third gear band apply tube (52).
- If needed, lightly seat the third gear band apply tube into the transmission case assembly with a soft mallet.
- Install the third gear band apply tube retainer (51).
- Install the 2 - M6 x 1.0 x 14 mm third gear band apply tube retainer bolts (50).
Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified. These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.
Tighten
Tighten the third gear band apply tube retainer bolts to 5 N·m (44 lb in).
