When servicing the vehicle with the VIN you entered, the following diagnosis might be helpful if the vehicle exhibits the described symptoms.

Condition/Concern:

The 4L60E automatic transmission may exhibit a condition of slips, and/or shudders in reverse on acceleration from a stop followed by a harsh engagement. The condition may be worse when the vehicle is heavily loaded. The dealer service technician may notice that transmission line pressure and PCS appear to be slow to respond.

Recommendation/Instructions:

A new transmission calibration to improve transmission performance in garage shifts for the 5.0 and 5.7 liter engines was released 01/10/03 for TIS 2000 to correct the reverse shudder condition.

Please follow this diagnosis process thoroughly and complete each step. If the condition exhibited is resolved without completing every step, the remaining steps do not need to be performed. If these steps do not resolve the condition, please contact GM TAC for further diagnostic assistance. This diagnostic approach was developed for the vehicle with the VIN you entered and should not be automatically be used for other vehicles with similar symptoms.
