Removal Procedure

  1. Disconnect the negative battery cable. Refer to Battery Negative Cable Disconnection and Connection in Engine Electrical.
  2. Remove the engine cover. Refer to Engine Cover Replacement in Interior Trim.
  3. Remove the air cleaner outlet resonator. Refer to Air Cleaner Outlet Resonator Replacement .

  5. Remove the air cleaner outlet adapter stud.

  6. Object Number: 325550  Size: SH
  7. Remove the cruise control cable. Refer to Cruise Control Cable Replacement in Cruise Control.

  8. Object Number: 325556  Size: SH
  9. Remove the accelerator cable. Refer to Accelerator Control Cable Replacement .
  10. Remove the stud and nuts retaining the accelerator control cable bracket and position the bracket aside.

  11. Object Number: 312513  Size: SH
  12. Disconnect the idle air control (IAC) valve harness connector.

  13. Object Number: 12885  Size: SH
  14. Disconnect the throttle position (TP) sensor harness connector.

  15. Object Number: 12852  Size: SH
  16. Remove the throttle body retaining studs.

  17. Object Number: 12853  Size: SH
  18. Remove the throttle body assembly.
  19. Discard the throttle body seal.

Installation Procedure

    Caution: Wear safety glasses in order to avoid eye damage.

  1. Clean the gasket surface on the intake manifold.

  2. Object Number: 12853  Size: SH
  3. Install the throttle body assembly with a new seal.

  4. Object Number: 12852  Size: SH

    Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified. These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.

  5. Install the throttle body assembly retaining studs.
  6. Tighten
    Tighten the studs to 9 N·m (80 lb in).

  7. Install the adapter stud for the air cleaner outlet resonator .
  8. Tighten
    Tighten the fasteners to 8 N·m (71 lb in).

  9. Connect the TP sensor harness connector.

  10. Object Number: 312513  Size: SH
  11. Connect the IAC valve harness connector.

  12. Object Number: 424537  Size: SH
  13. Install the accelerator control cable bracket using the mounting fasteners.
  14. Tighten
    Tighten the fasteners to 12 N·m (106 lb in).

    Important: Make sure the accelerator and the cruise control cables do not hold the throttle open.

  15. Install the accelerator cable.

  16. Object Number: 325550  Size: SH
  17. Install the cruise control cable.
  18. Install the air cleaner outlet resonator. Refer to Air Cleaner Outlet Resonator Replacement .
  19. Install the engine cover. Refer to Engine Cover Replacement in Interior Trim.
  20. Connect the negative battery cable.
  21. Important: The accelerator pedal should operate freely without binding between full and closed throttle.

  22. Use the following procedure in order to inspect the accelerator pedal operation.
  23. 13.1. Depress the pedal to the floor.
    13.2. Release the accelerator pedal.
