J 39400-A Halogen Leak Detector

Removal Procedure


    Object Number: 301707  Size: SH
  1. Recover the refrigerant from the A/C system. Refer to Refrigerant Recovery and Recharging .
  2. Drain the coolant. Refer to Cooling System Draining and Filling in Engine Cooling.
  3. Raise the vehicle. Refer to Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle in General Information.
  4. Remove the heater and A/C line cover from the underside of the auxiliary evaporator module.
  5. Remove the heater lines from the auxiliary evaporator module from the underside of vehicle.
  6. Remove the one retaining nut in order to remove the auxiliary evaporator underbody rear tube assembly from the core.
  7. Remove the two nuts securing the auxiliary evaporator module from the underside of the vehicle.
  8. Lower the vehicle.

  10. Remove the left body side rear trim panel. Refer to Body Side Rear Trim Panel Replacement in Interior Trim.
  11. Remove the upper/lower auxiliary air outlet duct assembly .Refer to Auxiliary Air Outlet Duct Replacement .
  12. Disconnect the electrical connectors.
  13. Remove the two bolts inside the vehicle retaining the case to the vehicle.
  14. Remove the auxiliary evaporator module assembly (1) from the vehicle.

  16. Remove the screws from the case.
  17. Separate the case halves.
  18. Remove the evaporator core seal.
  19. Remove the evaporator core from the auxiliary HVAC module.
  20. Inspect the gaskets and the seals for damage.
  21. Replace the gaskets and the seals, as needed.

Installation Procedure

  1. Install the evaporator core to the auxiliary HVAC module.
  2. Install the evaporator core seal.
  3. Reassemble the case halves.

  4. Object Number: 301705  Size: SH
  5. Install the auxiliary evaporator module assembly (1) to the vehicle.
  6. Install the two bolts inside the vehicle in order to retain the case to the vehicle.
  7. Connect the electrical connectors.
  8. Install the upper/lower auxiliary air outlet ducts assembly. Refer to Auxiliary Air Outlet Duct Replacement .
  9. Install the left body side rear trim panel. Refer to Body Side Rear Trim Panel Replacement in Interior Trim.

  10. Object Number: 301707  Size: SH
  11. Raise the vehicle. Refer to Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle in General Information.
  12. Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified. These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.

  13. Install the two nuts securing the auxiliary evaporator module to the underside of the vehicle.
  14. Tighten
    Tighten the nuts to 10 N·m (89 lb in).

  15. Install the one retaining nut to the auxiliary evaporator underbody rear tube assembly to the core.
  16. Tighten
    Tighten the nut to 28 N·m (21 lb ft).

  17. Install the heater lines to the auxiliary evaporator module from the underside of vehicle.
  18. Install the heater and A/C line cover to the underside of the auxiliary evaporator module.
  19. Lower the vehicle.
  20. Fill the engine coolant. Refer to Cooling System Draining and Filling in Engine Cooling.
  21. Evacuate and recharge the A/C system. Refer to Refrigerant Recovery and Recharging .
  22. Leak test the fittings of the components using the J 39400-A .
