Removal Procedure

  1. Drain the engine coolant. Refer to Cooling System Draining and Filling in Engine Cooling.
  2. Recover the refrigerant from the A/C system. Refer to Refrigerant Recovery and Recharging .
  3. Remove the coolant recovery reservoir or the surge tank. Refer to Coolant Recovery Reservoir Replacement or Radiator Surge Tank Replacement in Engine Cooling.
  4. Remove the battery from the vehicle. Refer to Battery Replacement in Engine Electrical.
  5. Remove the A/C accumulator. Refer to Air Conditioning Accumulator Replacement .

  7. Remove the heater hoses from the heater core.

  8. Object Number: 301592  Size: SH
  9. Remove the screws from the heater case.
  10. CAREFULLY open the heater core access door in order to cut the heater core access door.
  11. Cut the marked section of the heater core access door.

  13. Remove the retainers from the heater core.
  14. Remove the heater core from the vehicle.

Installation Procedure

  1. Install the heater core to the vehicle.
  2. Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified. These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.

  3. Install the retainers to the heater core.
  4. Tighten
    Tighten the screws to 1.9 N·m (17 lb in).

  5. Install the heater core access door.
  6. Install the retaining screws into the heater case.
  7. Tighten
    Tighten the screws to 1.9 N·m (17 lb in).

  8. Install the heater hoses to the heater core.
  9. Install the A/C accumulator. Refer to Air Conditioning Accumulator Replacement .
  10. Install the battery to the vehicle. Refer to Battery Replacement in Engine Electrical.
  11. Install the coolant recovery reservoir or the surge tank. Refer to Coolant Recovery Reservoir Replacement or Radiator Surge Tank Replacement in Engine Cooling.
  12. Evacuate and recharge the A/C system. Refer to Refrigerant Recovery and Recharging .
  13. Fill the engine coolant. Refer to Cooling System Draining and Filling in Engine Cooling.
