Evaporative Emission Canister Replacement Passenger/Cargo Van

Removal Procedure


    Object Number: 601666  Size: SH
  1. Raise the vehicle. Refer to Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle in General Information.
  2. Remove the EVAP canister retainer (2).

  3. Object Number: 588979  Size: SH
  4. Disconnect the vent hose (2) from the canister.

  5. Object Number: 588983  Size: SH
  6. Disconnect the chassis EVAP purge pipe (5) from the EVAP canister.
  7. Disconnect the fuel tank EVAP pipe (1) from the canister.
  8. Remove the EVAP canister from the fuel tank shield.

Installation Procedure


    Object Number: 588983  Size: SH
  1. Install the EVAP canister to the fuel tank shield.
  2. Connect the fuel tank EVAP pipe (1) to the canister.
  3. Connect the chassis EVAP purge pipe (5) to the EVAP canister.

  4. Object Number: 588979  Size: SH
  5. Connect the vent hose (2) to the canister.

  6. Object Number: 601666  Size: SH
  7. Install the EVAP canister retainer (2).
  8. Lower the vehicle.

Removal Procedure


    Object Number: 588982  Size: SH
  1. Raise the vehicle. Refer to Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle in General Information.
  2. Remove the EVAP canister bracket bolt (2).

  3. Object Number: 588979  Size: SH
  4. Disconnect the vent hose (2) from the canister.

  5. Object Number: 588983  Size: SH
  6. Disconnect the chassis EVAP purge pipe (5) from the EVAP canister.
  7. Disconnect the fuel tank EVAP pipe (1) from the canister.

  8. Object Number: 588981  Size: SH
  9. Remove the EVAP canister from the bracket.

Installation Procedure


    Object Number: 588983  Size: SH
  1. Connect the fuel tank EVAP pipe (1) to the canister.
  2. Connect the chassis EVAP purge pipe (5) to the EVAP canister.

  3. Object Number: 588979  Size: SH
  4. Connect the vent hose (2) to the canister.

  5. Object Number: 588981  Size: SH
  6. Install the EVAP canister to the bracket.

  7. Object Number: 588982  Size: SH

    Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified. These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.

  8. Install the EVAP canister bracket bolt (2).
  9. Tighten
    Tighten the bolt to 12 N·m (106 lb in).

  10. Lower the vehicle.
