Removal Procedure

  1. Disconnect both the battery negative cables from the batteries. Refer to Battery Negative Cable Disconnection and Connection in Engine Electrical.
  2. If equipped with rear A/C discharge the A/C system. Refer to Refrigerant Recovery and Recharging in Heating, Ventilation and Air Conditioning.
  3. If non rear A/C equipped, the compressor can be positioned without discharging the A/C system.

  4. Remove the rear A/C pipe from the compressor. Refer to Compressor Hose Assembly Replacement in Heating, Ventilation and Air Conditioning.
  5. Remove the air conditioning compressor from the engine lift bracket (if equipped), and position to the side.
  6. Remove the upper fan shroud from the radiator. Refer to Fan Shroud Replacement in Engine Cooling.
  7. Remove the drive belt from the pulleys. Refer to Drive Belt Replacement .

  9. Remove the idler pulley assembly the engine lift bracket (non A/C shown).
  10. Remove the auxiliary generator (if equipped) from the engine lift bracket. Refer to Auxiliary Generator Replacement in Engine Electrical.
  11. Drain the cooling system. Refer to Cooling System Draining and Filling in Engine Cooling.
  12. Remove the engine cooling fan from the vehicle. Refer to Fan Clutch Replacement in Engine Cooling.
  13. Remove the thermostat housing crossover from the cylinder heads. Refer to Thermostat Housing Crossover Replacement in Engine Cooling.
  14. Remover the power steering pump from the engine lift bracket. The pump with the rear bracket can remain on the engine. Refer to Power Steering Pump Replacement in Power Steering System.

  16. Remove the bolts from the engine lift bracket.
  17. Remove the engine lift bracket from the engine block.

Installation Procedure

  1. Install the engine lift bracket to the engine block.
  2. Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified. These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.

  3. Install the engine lift bracket bolts to the cylinder head.
  4. Tighten
    Tighten the bolts to 50 N·m (37 lb ft).

  5. Install the power steering pump to the engine lift bracket. Refer to Power Steering Pump Replacement in Power Steering System.
  6. Install the thermostat housing crossover to the cylinder heads. Refer to Thermostat Housing Crossover Replacement in Engine Cooling.

  8. Install the A/C compressor to the engine lift bracket.
  9. Install the idler pulley assembly to the engine lift bracket (non A/C shown). Refer to Drive Belt Idler Pulley Replacement .
  10. Install the auxiliary generator (if equipped) to the engine lift bracket. Refer to Auxiliary Generator Replacement in Engine Electrical.
  11. Install the engine cooling fan to the vehicle. Refer to Fan Clutch Replacement in Engine Cooling.
  12. Install the drive belt on the pulleys. Refer to Drive Belt Replacement .
  13. Install the fan shroud in the vehicle. Refer to Fan Shroud Replacement in Engine Cooling.
  14. Refill the cooling system. Refer to Cooling System Draining and Filling in Engine Cooling.
  15. If removed, install the rear A/C pipe to the compressor. Refer to Compressor Hose Assembly Replacement in Heating, Ventilation and Air Conditioning.
  16. Recharge the A/C system. Refer to Refrigerant Recovery and Recharging in Heating, Ventilation and Air Conditioning.
  17. Connect both the battery negative cables to the batteries. Refer to Battery Negative Cable Disconnection and Connection in Engine Electrical.
