Removal Procedure


    Object Number: 188050  Size: SH
  1. Raise the vehicle. Refer to Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle in General Information.
  2. Position a suitable container to catch the engine oil.
  3. Remove the oil filter.
  4. Disconnect the engine oil cooler pipes from the oil filter adapter. Refer to Engine Oil Cooler Hose/Pipe Replacement in Engine Cooling.

  5. Object Number: 4554  Size: SH
  6. Remove the oil filter adapter bolts.

  7. Object Number: 4555  Size: SH
  8. Remove the oil filter adapter and the oil filter adapter gasket.
  9. Discard the oil filter adapter gasket.

  10. Object Number: 4556  Size: SH
  11. Remove the oil filter adapter seal (O-ring).
  12. Discard the oil filter adapter seal (O-ring).

Installation Procedure


    Object Number: 4556  Size: SH
  1. Install the NEW oil filter adapter seal (O-ring) into the groove in the oil filter adapter.

  2. Object Number: 4555  Size: SH
  3. Install the oil filter adapter and NEW oil filter adapter gasket.

  4. Object Number: 4554  Size: SH

    Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified. These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.

  5. Install the oil filter adapter bolts.
  6. Tighten
    Tighten the oil filter adapter bolts to 21 N·m (15 lb ft).

  7. Install the oil cooler pipes to the oil filter adapter. Refer to Engine Oil Cooler Hose/Pipe Replacement in Engine Cooling.
  8. Install the oil filter. Refer to Engine Oil and Oil Filter Replacement .
  9. Lower the vehicle.
  10. Operate the vehicle and check for leaks.
  11. Check the oil level and add as required.
