The following diagnosis might be helpful if the vehicle exhibits the symptom(s) described in this PI.
Condition/Concern:
The odometer and PRNDL will illuminate with the key out of the ignition and opening either front door.
Recommendation/Instructions:
This is a Special Equipment Option in the 1997 thru 2006 G1, G2, and G3, vans purchased by Pensky and U-haul for their rental fleet. This is to allow their personnel to read the mileage without having the keys available.
No action should be taken. This is a design characteristic
Please follow this diagnostic or repair process thoroughly and complete each step. If the condition exhibited is resolved without completing every step, the remaining steps do not need to be performed.
