  1. Disconnect the connector at the multi-function alarm module.
  2. Disconnect the connector at the instrument cluster.
  3. Connect a J 39200 between the multi-function alarm module connector, cavity C2 for CKT 234 (YEL), and ground.

Is continuity present?

Repair the short to ground in CKT 234 (YEL) between the multi-function alarm module and the instrument cluster.

Is the fasten safety belt indicator operative?

--

Go to Audible Warnings System Check

Go to Step 4

  1. Reconnect the connector at the multi-function alarm module.
  2. Connect an unpowered test lamp between the instrument cluster connector, cavity A12 for CKT 234 (YEL).

Does the test lamp light?

--

Go to Step 5

Replace the multi-function alarm module.

Is the fasten safety belt indicator operative?

--

Connect a J 39200 DMM between the multi-function alarm module, cavity C2 and the instrument cluster connector cavity A2 for CKT 234 (YEL).

Is continuity present?

--

Replace the instrument cluster.

  1. Disconnect the connector C1 at the multifunction alarm module.
  2. Disconnect the connector at the instrument cluster.
  3. Connect an unpowered test lamp between the following components:
  4. • The multifunction alarm module connector C1 cavity C2 for the CKT (YEL) wire
    • Ground

Did the test lamp light?

  1. Locate the short to ground in the CKT 234 (YEL) wire between the following components:
  2. • The multifunction alarm module
    • The instrument cluster
  3. Repair the short to ground in the CKT 234 (YEL) wire between the following components:
  4. • The multifunction alarm module
    • The instrument cluster

Is the repair complete?

Connect a J 39200 between the following components:

    • The multifunction alarm module connector C1 cavity C2
    • The instrument cluster connector cavity A12 for the CKT 234 (YEL) wire

Is continuity present?

--

Go to Step 5

  1. Connect the connector C1 at the multifunction alarm module.
  2. Connect a voltmeter between the following components:
  3. • The instrument cluster connector cavity A12 for the CKT 234 (YEL) wire
    • Ground
  4. Ensure that the driver side seat belt is not fastened.
  5. Turn the ignition switch to the RUN position.
  6. Observe the indicated voltage.

Is there no voltage present?

  1. Locate the open in the CKT 234 (YEL) wire between the following components:
  2. • The multifunction alarm module
    • The instrument cluster
  3. Repair the open in the CKT 234 (YEL) wire between the following components:
  4. • The multifunction alarm module
    • The instrument cluster

Is the repair complete?

  1. Inspect the safety belt lamp filament.
  2. Replace the safety belt lamp filament if the safety belt lamp filament is bad.
