Removal Procedure

  1. Raise and support the vehicle. Refer to Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle .
  2. Remove the tire and wheel. Refer to Tire and Wheel Removal and Installation .

  3. Object Number: 928802  Size: SH

    Important: Hold the link with a wrench during nut removal.

  4. Remove the stabilizer link to lower control arm nut.

  5. Object Number: 930291  Size: SH
  6. Remove the trailing arm bracket to underbody bolts.

  7. Object Number: 928818  Size: SH
  8. Place a screw-type jackstand under the lower control arm.
  9. Using the jackstand, compress the coil spring.

  10. Object Number: 928822  Size: SH
  11. Remove the lower shock bolt.

  12. Object Number: 928823  Size: SH
  13. Loosen the lower control arm to support frame bolt.

  14. Object Number: 928825  Size: SH
  15. Remove the lower control arm to knuckle nut and bolt.

  16. Object Number: 929563  Size: SH
  17. Lower the control arm in order to unload the coil spring.
  18. Remove the coil spring.

Installation Procedure


    Object Number: 1458788  Size: SH
  1. Fully seat the top and bottom coil spring insulators to the spring.
  2. Important: 

       • Spray silicon lubricant on the insulators to aid in installation.
       • Ensure that part number identification tape located on the coil spring is oriented outboard of the vehicle and at the top of the spring.

  3. Position the spring with the rubber insulators into the vehicle.
  4. Use a screw-type jackstand to compress the spring.
  5. Notice: Refer to Fastener Notice in the Preface section.


    Object Number: 928825  Size: SH
  6. Install the knuckle to the lower control arm.
  7. Tighten
    Tighten the lower control arm to knuckle bolt to 160 N·m (118 lb ft).

  8. Tighten the lower control arm to support nut and bolt.
  9. Tighten
    Tighten the bolt to 110 N·m (81 lb ft).

  10. Install the shock to the lower control arm.
  11. Tighten
    Tighten the lower shock bolt to 110 N·m (81 lb ft).

  12. Remove the jackstand.

  13. Object Number: 928802  Size: SH

    Important: Hold the link with a wrench during nut installation.

  14. Install the stabilizer link to the lower control arm.
  15. Tighten
    Tighten the nut to 15 N·m (11 lb ft).


    Object Number: 930291  Size: SH
  16. Push the trailing arm upward to align the front bracket to body bolt.
  17. Use a drift to aid in bracket alignment and install the remaining bolts.
  18. Tighten
    Tighten the bracket to body bolts to 110 N·m (81 lb ft).

  19. Install the tire and wheel. Refer to Tire and Wheel Removal and Installation .
  20. Lower the vehicle.
  21. Check the rear alignment. Refer to Wheel Alignment Measurement .
