Important: If the liftgate is opened after all the modules go to sleep, the dome light will not come on. The liftgate ajar switch input to the body control module (BCM) will not wake up the BCM once it has gone to sleep, so the dome light will not come on. Once the BCM gets an input to wake it up from remote keyless entry (RKE) or a door handle, the dome light will turn on when the liftgate is opened.

  1. Place the front dome lamp switch in the AUTO position.
  2. Observe the courtesy lamps.
  3. Open and close all of the vehicle doors.
  4. Place the courtesy lamp switch in the ON position.

Do the courtesy lamps illuminate as expected?

  1. With the scan tool, observe the parameter of the door that does not illuminate the courtesy lamps using the following:
  2. • DRIVER DOOR SWITCH
    • PASS DOOR SWITCH
    • LIFTGATE AJAR SWITCH
  3. Open and close the door.

Does the parameter switch from HIGH to LOW as expected?

Go to Step 17

Go to Step 13

13

  1. Close all doors that illuminate the courtesy lamps.
  2. Disconnect the inoperative door ajar switch connector.
  3. Connect a 3-amp fused jumper wire between the signal circuit of the connector and a good ground.

Do the courtesy lamps illuminate?
