Operate all power windows from all power window switches.

Did all the power windows operate from all power window switches correctly?

Go to Testing for Intermittent Conditions and Poor Connections in Wiring Systems

Go to Step 3

Did any power window operate from any power window switch?

Go to Symptoms - Doors

Go to Step 4

  1. Disconnect the main power window switch connector.
  2. Turn ON the ignition, with the engine OFF.
  3. Connect a test lamp between the accessory voltage circuit of the main power window switch connector and a good ground.

Does the test lamp illuminate?

Go to Step 5

Go to Step 6

Connect a test lamp between the accessory voltage circuit and the ground circuit of the main power window switch connector.

Does the test lamp illuminate?

Go to Step 10

  1. Turn OFF the ignition.
  2. Remove the power window relay.
  3. Connect a test lamp between the power window relay battery positive voltage circuit at the power window relay harness connector and a good ground.

Does the test lamp illuminate?

Go to Step 8

Test the following circuits of the main power window switch for a short to ground:

    • Accessory Voltage
    • Power window motor left front up control
    • Power window motor left front down control
    • Power window master switch left rear up signal
    • Power window master switch left rear down signal
    • Power window master switch lockout signal of the LR window switch
    • Power window master switch lockout signal of the RR window switch
    • Power window master switch right rear up signal
    • Power window master switch right rear down signal
    • Power window motor right front up control
    • Power window motor right front down control
    • Power window motor left rear up control
    • Power window motor left rear down control
    • Power window motor right rear up control
    • Power window motor right rear down control

Did you find and correct the condition?

Connect a test lamp between the battery positive voltage circuit and the ground circuit of the power window relay connector.

Does the test lamp illuminate?

Go to Step 9

Test the accessory voltage circuit of the main power window switch for a high resistance or an open. Refer to Circuit Testing and Wiring Repairs in Wiring Systems.

Did you find and correct the condition?

Go to Step 17

Inspect for poor connections at the main power window switch connector. Refer to Testing for Intermittent Conditions and Poor Connections and Connector Repairs in Wiring Systems.

Inspect for poor connections at the power window relay connector. Refer to Testing for Intermittent Conditions and Poor Connections and Connector Repairs in Wiring Systems.

Repair the open or high resistance in the power window relay ground circuit. Refer to Wiring Repairs in Wiring Systems.

Replace the power window relay. Refer to Relay Replacement in Wiring Systems.
