Tools Required:

    • J 34730-1A Fuel Pressure Gage
    • J 42982 Fuel Pressure Gage Adapter
    • CH-47831 Fuel Line Disconnect Tool

Installation Procedure

  1. Relieve the fuel pressure. Refer to Fuel Pressure Relief .

  2. Object Number: 1375557  Size: SH
  3. Remove the fasteners from the engine cover.
  4. Remove the engine cover from the engine.

  5. Object Number: 1531150  Size: SH
  6. Disconnect the quick connect coupling of the fuel feed hose (3) from the fuel feed pipe of the fuel rail. Use a shop towel in order to catch any remaining fuel that may leak.
  7. Install the J 42982 between the fuel feed pipe of the fuel rail and of the fuel feed hose.

  9. Install the J 34730-1A to the J 42982 , and tighten securely.
  10. Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified. These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.

  11. Connect the negative battery cable.
  12. Tighten
    Tighten the retainer for the negative battery cable terminal to 15 N·m (11 lb ft).

  13. Turn ON the ignition in order to pressurize the fuel system.
  14. Turn OFF the ignition.
  15. Check for any fuel leaks.

Removal Procedure

  1. Relieve the fuel pressure. Refer to the Fuel Pressure Relief .

  2. Object Number: 320792  Size: SH
  3. Remove the J 34730-1A from the J 42982 .
  4. Using the CH-47831 , disconnect the quick connect coupling of the J 42982 from the fuel feed pipe of the fuel rail. Use a shop towel in order to catch any remaining fuel that may leak.
  5. Disconnect the quick connect coupling of the fuel feed hose (3) from theJ 42982 , and remove the adapter. Use a shop towel in order to catch any remaining fuel that may leak.

  6. Object Number: 1531150  Size: SH
  7. Connect the quick-connect fitting of the fuel feed hose (3) to the fuel feed pipe of the fuel rail.
  8. Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant are identified in the service procedure.   9. Connect the negative battery cable.
  10. Tighten
    Tighten the retainer for the negative battery cable terminal to 15 N·m (11 lb ft).

  11. Turn ON the ignition in order to pressurize the fuel system.
  12. Turn OFF the ignition.
  13. Check for any fuel leaks.

  15. Install the engine cover.
  16. Secure the engine cover with the fasteners.
  17. Tighten
    Tighten the fasteners to 10 N·m (89 lb in).
