Removal Procedure

    Object Number: 1255827 Size: SH
  1. Siphon the power steering fluid from the fluid reservoir.
  2. Disconnect the pressure line pipe and the supply line hose from the inlet and outlet connections on the power steering pump.

    3. Object Number: 1255828 Size: SH
  3. Disconnect the pressure line pipe and the supply line hose from the inlet and outlet connections on the power steering pump.
  4. Disconnect the return line from the fluid reservoir.

    5. Object Number: 1255829 Size: SH
  5. Remove the pressure line bracket securing bolt from the alternator.

    6. Object Number: 1255830 Size: SH
  6. Raise and suitably support the vehicle. Refer to Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle .
  7. Disconnect the pressure line from the power steering gear inlet.

    8. Object Number: 1255831 Size: SH
  8. Disconnect the return line outlet pipe from the power steering gear.

  9. Remove the return line bracket securing bolts from the center crossmember.

    10. Object Number: 1255833 Size: SH
  10. Remove the return line securing bracket bolts near the radiator.
  11. Remove the return line and the pressure line from the vehicle.

Installation Procedure

    Object Number: 1255833 Size: SH
  1. Route the pressure line from the power steering pump to the power steering gear.
  2. Raise and suitably support the vehicle.
  3. Route the return line from the fluid reservoir to the power steering gear.

    4. Notice: Refer to Fastener Notice in the Preface section.

  4. Install the return securing bracket bolts near the radiator.

    5. Tighten
    Tighten the return line securing bracket bolt to 8 N·m (71 lb in).

  5. Install the return line bracket securing bolts to the center member.

    6. Tighten
    Tighten the return line bracket securing bolts to the center crossmember to 8 N·m (71 lb in).


    Object Number: 1255831 Size: SH
  6. Connect the return line to the power steering gear outlet.

    7. Tighten
    Tighten the return line fitting to 28 N·m (21 lb ft).

  7. Connect the pressure line to the power steering gear inlet.

    8. Tighten
    Tighten the pressure line fitting to 28 N·m (21 lb ft).


    Object Number: 1255829 Size: SH
  8. Install the pressure line bracket securing bolt on the alternator.

    9. Tighten
    Tighten the pressure line bracket securing bolt to the 8 N·m (71 lb in).

  9. Connect the return line to the fluid reservoir.

    10. Object Number: 1255827 Size: SH
  10. Connect the pressure line pipe and the supply line hose to the outlet and inlet connections on the power steering pump.

    11. Tighten
    Tighten the pressure line fitting to 28 N·m (21 lb ft).

    Notice: Refer to Power Steering Required Fluid Notice in the Preface section.

  11. Fill the fluid reservoir with power steering fluid.
  12. Inspect for leaks. If there are leaks, correct the cause of the leaks and bleed the system. Refer to Power Steering System Bleeding .
