Go to Step 2

Go to Diagnostic System Check - Vehicle in Vehicle DTC Information

2

Verify the condition is present.

Does the system operate normally?

Go to Testing for Intermittent Conditions and Poor Connections in Wiring Systems

Go to Step 3

3

  1. Turn ON the ignition, with the engine OFF.
  2. Observe the Telescope Forward Switch and Telescope Rearward Switch data parameters with a scan tool.
  3. Actuate the telescope forward switch and telescope rearward switch.

Do the Telescope Forward Switch and Telescope Rearward Switch Data parameters change with each switch actuation?

Go to Step 5

Go to Step 4

4

  1. Disconnect the driver position module (DPM) C2 connector.
  2. Probe the telescope in circuit and the telescope out circuit with a test lamp connected to a good ground.
  3. Actuate the telescope forward switch and telescope rearward switch.

Does the test lamp illuminate for both circuits?

Go to Step 10

Go to Step 7

5

  1. Disconnect the telescoping drive motor connector.
  2. Connect a test lamp between the forward telescope motor control circuit and the reverse telescope motor control circuit.
  3. Actuate the telescope forward switch and telescope rearward switch.

Does the test lamp illuminate for both directions?

Go to Step 9

Go to Step 6

6

Test the telescope actuator circuits for an open or short to ground. Refer to Circuit Testing and Wiring Repairs in Wiring Systems.

Did you find and correct the condition?
