DEFINITION: The theft deterrent alarm does not sound when the Content Theft Deterrent (CTD) System is in alarm mode or the theft deterrent alarm sounds when the CTD System is not in alarm mode.

Does the theft deterrent alarm sound when the CTD System is not in alarm mode?

Does the theft deterrent alarm sound when the ignition is ON?

Disconnect the theft deterrent alarm siren harness connector.

Does the theft deterrent alarm sound?

  1. Turn the ignition ON.
  2. Probe the ignition 1 voltage circuit at the theft deterrent alarm harness connector with a test lamp that is connected to a good ground.

Does the test lamp illuminate?

Measure the voltage of the battery positive voltage circuit at the theft deterrent alarm harness connector with a DMM.

Is the voltage near the specified value?

12 V

Test the theft deterrent alarm power sender enable signal circuit for a short to voltage. Refer to Circuit Testing and Wiring Repairs in Wiring Systems.

Inspect for a loose or poor connection at the harness connector of the theft deterrent alarm. Refer to Testing for Intermittent Conditions and Poor Connections and Connector Repairs in Wiring Systems.
