Close the rear compartment.

Is the HATCH AJAR message displayed on the driver information center (DIC)?

Go to Step 3

Go to Testing for Intermittent Conditions and Poor Connections

  1. Install a scan tool.
  2. Turn ON the ignition, with the engine OFF.
  3. Close the rear compartment.
  4. With a scan tool, observe the trunk ajar switch signal in the body control module (BCM) data list.

Does the scan tool display TRUNK AJAR?

Go to Step 4

Go to Step 6

Disconnect the rear compartment lid pull down actuator.

Is the trunk ajar message displayed?

Go to Step 5

Go to Step 7

Inspect for a short to ground in the trunk ajar switch signal circuit. Refer to Circuit Testing and Wiring Repairs .

Did you find and correct the condition?

Go to Step 12

Inspect for poor connections at the harness connector of the instrument panel cluster (IPC). Refer to Circuit Testing and Wiring Repairs .

Inspect for poor connections at the harness connector of the rear compartment lid pull down actuator. Refer to Circuit Testing and Wiring Repairs .

Inspect for poor connections at the harness connector of the BCM. Refer to Circuit Testing and Wiring Repairs .
