Catalytic Converter Replacement - Right Side 6.0L

Removal Procedure

    Object Number: 1461905 Size: SH
  1. Raise the vehicle. Refer to Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle .
  2. Remove the intermediate pipes. Refer to Intermediate Pipe Replacement .
  3. Remove the oxygen sensors. Refer to the following:
    4. •  Heated Oxygen Sensor Replacement - Bank 2 Sensor 1
    •  Heated Oxygen Sensor Replacement - Bank 2 Sensor 2

    Important: DO NOT reuse the gasket between the catalytic convertor and the exhaust manifold. Use new only.

  4. Remove the mounting nuts (3) and gasket (1) from the exhaust manifold.
  5. Remove the catalytic convertor (2) from the vehicle.

Installation Procedure

    Object Number: 1461905 Size: SH
  1. Install the NEW exhaust gasket (1) on the catalytic convertor (2).
  2. Position the catalytic convertor (2) on the exhaust manifold.

    3. Notice: Refer to Fastener Notice in the Preface section.

  3. Install the mounting nuts (3) for the catalytic convertor.

    4. Tighten
    Tighten the mounting nuts (3) to 20 N·m (15 lb ft).

  4. Install the oxygen sensors. Refer to the following:
    5. •  Heated Oxygen Sensor Replacement - Bank 2 Sensor 1
    •  Heated Oxygen Sensor Replacement - Bank 2 Sensor 2
  5. Install the intermediate pipes. Refer to Intermediate Pipe Replacement .
  6. Lower the vehicle.

Preliminary Procedure

    • Remove the engine mount-to-engine bracket nuts. Refer to Engine Mount Bracket Replacement - Left Side .
    • Raise the vehicle. Refer to Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle .

Intermediate Pipe

Refer to Intermediate Pipe Replacement .

Exhaust Pipe Seal

Heated Oxygen Sensor (HO25) Bank 2 Sensor 1

Refer to Heated Oxygen Sensor Replacement - Bank 2 Sensor 1 .

Heated Oxygen Sensor (HO25) Bank 2 Sensor 2

Refer to Heated Oxygen Sensor Replacement - Bank 2 Sensor 2 .

Catalytic Converter to Exhaust Manifold Nuts (Qty: 4)

Tighten
50 N·m (37 lb ft)

RH Catalytic Converter

Tip
The engine will need to be raised slightly for the catalytic converter to clear the exhaust manifold mounting studs.

Exhaust Manifold Pipe Gasket

Tip
Improperly installed and/or leaking exhaust gaskets may affect vehicle emissions and/or On-Board Diagnostics (OBD) II system performance.
