Electronic Column Lock Module - Assemble - Off Vehicle Non-Telescoping Column


    Object Number: 323845  Size: SH
  1. Install the electric column lock (2) to the steering column tilt head assembly.
  2. Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified. These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.

  3. Install the 2 pan head tapping screws (1).
  4. Tighten
    Tighten the 2 pan head tapping screws to 7 N·m (62 lb in).

  5. Slide the windshield wiper and washer switch assembly into the electric column lock until the clips engage.
  6. Connect the electric lock module connector.

  7. Object Number: 323839  Size: SH
  8. Route the wire harness assembly along the steering column jacket assembly.
  9. Connect the connector, if necessary.

  10. Object Number: 323835  Size: SH
  11. Install the wire harness strap (2) to the steering column tilt head assembly (1).
  12. Install the wire harness strap (2) onto the wire harness assembly.

  13. Object Number: 323836  Size: SH
  14. Pop the wire harness assembly (1) into the wire harness strap (2).
  15. Install the steering column tilt head housing. Refer to Steering Column Tilt Head Housing - Assemble - Off Vehicle .
  16. Perform the functional test. Refer to Turn Signal Cancel Cam and Steering Shaft Upper Bearing Spring Replacement , steps 6-26.

Electronic Column Lock Module - Assemble - Off Vehicle Telescoping Column


    Object Number: 425423  Size: SH
  1. Install the electric column lock (2) to the steering column tilt head assembly.

  4. Tighten
    Tighten the pan head tapping screws to 7 N·m (62 lb in).

  7. Route the wire harness assembly along the steering column jacket assembly.
  8. Connect the connector, if necessary.

  10. Install the wire harness strap (2) to the steering column tilt head assembly (1).
  11. Install the wire harness strap (2) onto the wire harness assembly.

  12. Object Number: 323836  Size: SH
  13. Pop the wire harness assembly (1) into the wire harness strap (2).
  14. Install the steering column tilt head housing. Refer to Steering Column Tilt Head Housing - Assemble - Off Vehicle .
  15. Perform the functional test. Refer to Turn Signal Cancel Cam and Steering Shaft Upper Bearing Spring Replacement , steps 6-26.
