  1. Inspect the general condition of the following components whenever you raise the vehicle for service:
  2. • The catalytic converters
    • The exhaust pipes
    • The mufflers
  3. Inspect the underbody exhaust system clearances in order to prevent the overheating of the underside of the vehicle and possible damage to the passenger compartment insulation and trim materials.
  4. Inspect the underbody exhaust system clearances in order to prevent squeaks and rattles.
  5. Inspect the exhaust system for the following conditions:
  6. • Abnormal wear
    • Visual damage or misalignment
    • Open seams
    • Loose connections
    • Holes
    • Any other deterioration that could permit exhaust fumes to enter the passenger compartment
