Removal Procedure


    Object Number: 64008  Size: SH
  1. Remove the rear brake rotor. Refer to Brake Rotor Replacement - Rear in Disc Brakes.
  2. Rotate the parking brake adjuster nut until the bolt is in the closed position.
  3. Remove the parking brake shoe retaining spring.

  4. Object Number: 64007  Size: SH
  5. Remove the parking brake shoe.

  6. Object Number: 338243  Size: SH
  7. Remove the two actuator mounting bolts.
  8. Remove the actuator assembly from the dust shield.

Installation Procedure


    Object Number: 64006  Size: SH
  1. Apply silicone grease to positions 1 and 2, use GM P/N 18010909 or equivalent. Do not apply grease to the bolt threads (3).
  2. Install the actuator to the dust shield.
  3. Use silicone grease GM P/N 18010909 or equivalent, to lubricate the brake caliper bolt shaft. Do not lubricate the bolt threads.
  4. Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified. These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.

  5. Install the actuator mounting bolts.
  6. Tighten
    Tighten the actuator mounting bolts to 70 N·m (52 lb ft).

  7. Install the parking brake shoe.

  8. Object Number: 64008  Size: SH
  9. Install the parking brake shoe retaining spring.
  10. Adjust the parking brake. Refer to Parking Brake Shoe Adjustment .
  11. Install the brake rotor. Refer to Brake Rotor Replacement - Rear in Disc Brakes.
