REMOVABLE ACRYLIC TOP WARPAGE DECAL/STORAGE INFORMATION

Model and Year: 1988 CORVETTE

Comments have been received that a few removable acrylic (clear) tops have warped on the subject vehicles. To eliminate the potential for this condition a removable decal will be added to the top. And secondly, a notice will be placed in the Owner's Manual, just after SOP 1989.

The notice and decal will read:

"On vehicles with dual roof panel option, avoid storing the acrylic roof panel inside the vehicle when the painted roof is installed and the vehicle is fully closed. The acrylic roof panel can become warped by high internal temperatures during clear, hot, sunny days."

General Motors bulletins are intended for use by professional technicians, not a "do-it-yourselfer". They are written to inform those technicians of conditions that may occur on some vehicles, or to provide information that could assist in the proper service of a vehicle. Properly trained technicians have the equipment, tools, safety instructions and know-how to do a job properly and safely. If a condition is described, do not assume that the bulletin applies to your vehicle, or that your vehicle will have that condition. See a General Motors dealer servicing your brand of General Motors vehicle for information on whether your vehicle may benefit from the information.
