Removal Procedure

Caution: Refer to Brake Fluid Irritant Caution in the Preface section.


    Object Number: 1361430  Size: SH
  1. Raise the vehicle. Refer to Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle .
  2. Important: Inspect the condition of the retaining clip. If the retaining clip is flatten or damaged, discard and replace with new.

  3. Remove the retaining clip from the mounting bracket.

  4. Object Number: 1361432  Size: SH
  5. Using a backup wrench, remove the brake line from the brake hose.
  6. Important: Install a rubber cap or plug to the exposed brake pipe fitting in order to prevent brake fluid loss and contamination.

  7. Install a rubber cap or plug in the brake line.

  8. Object Number: 1340282  Size: SH
  9. Remove the brake line to the left wheel cylinder.

  10. Object Number: 1340284  Size: SH
  11. Remove the brake line to the right wheel cylinder.
  12. Install a rubber cap or plug in the brake lines.

  13. Object Number: 1340283  Size: SH
  14. Remove the mounting bolt for the brake hose.
  15. Remove the rear brake hose.

Installation Procedure

    Notice: Refer to Fastener Notice in the Preface section.


    Object Number: 1361432  Size: SH

    Important: When installing the mounting bolt to the brake hose or brake lines, always finger-tighten the bolt before tightening to specification.

  1. Install the brake line to the brake hose.
  2. Tighten
    Tighten the mounting bolt to 17 N·m (13 lb ft).

  3. Install the new retaining clip for the rear brake hose.

  4. Object Number: 1340283  Size: SH
  5. Position the rear brake hose on the mounting bracket.
  6. Important: When installing the mounting bolt to the brake hose or brake lines, always finger-tighten the bolt before tightening to specification.

  7. Install the mounting bolt.
  8. Tighten
    Tighten the mounting bolt to 19 N·m (14 lb ft).

  9. Remove the rubber plug or cap from the left brake line to the brake hose.

  10. Object Number: 1340282  Size: SH

    Important: When installing the brake hose or brake line fittings, always finger-tighten the fitting before tightening to specification.

  11. Install the left brake line to the brake hose.
  12. Tighten
    Tighten the fitting to 19 N·m (14 lb ft).

  13. Remove the rubber cap or plug from the right brake line.

  14. Object Number: 1340284  Size: SH

    Important: When installing the brake hose or brake line fittings, always finger-tighten the fitting before tightening to specification.

  15. Install the right brake line to the brake hose.
  16. Tighten
    Tighten the fitting to 19 N·m (14 lb ft).

  17. Fill the master cylinder reservoir, if needed. Refer to Master Cylinder Reservoir Filling .
  18. Bleed the brake system. Refer to Hydraulic Brake System Bleeding .
  19. Lower the vehicle.
