Removal Procedure

Caution: Refer to Brake Dust Caution in the Preface section.

Caution: Refer to Brake Fluid Irritant Caution in the Preface section.


    Object Number: 1276011  Size: SH
  1. Raise the vehicle. Refer to Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle .
  2. Remove the rear brake shoe assembly. Refer to Brake Shoe Replacement .
  3. Remove the brake line from the wheel cylinder.
  4. Using a plug, plug the brake line as not to allow dirt or the brake fluid to be contaminated.
  5. Remove the mounting bolts for the wheel cylinder.
  6. Remove the wheel cylinder from the backing plate.

Installation Procedure


    Object Number: 1276011  Size: SH
  1. Install the wheel cylinder to the backing plate.
  2. Notice: Refer to Fastener Notice in the Preface section.

  3. Install the wheel cylinder mounting bolts.
  4. Tighten
    Tighten the wheel cylinder mounting bolts to 18 N·m (13 lb ft).

  5. Remove the rubber plug from the brake line.
  6. Install the brake line to the wheel cylinder.
  7. Install the brake line fitting.
  8. Tighten
    Tighten the brake line fitting to 19 N·m (14 lb ft).

  9. Install the rear brake shoes. Refer to Brake Shoe Replacement .
  10. Bleed the brake system. Refer to Hydraulic Brake System Bleeding .
  11. Lower the vehicle.
  12. Check the fluid lever in the master cylinder. Refer to Master Cylinder Reservoir Filling .
