Removal Procedure

  1. Relieve the fuel system pressure. Refer to Fuel Pressure Relief .

  2. Object Number: 1361724  Size: SH
  3. Disconnect the fuel return hose/pipe (1) from the fuel rail. Refer to Metal Collar Quick Connect Fitting Service .

  4. Object Number: 1352028  Size: SH
  5. Disconnect the atmospheric vent hose (2) from the fuel pressure regulator (3).

  6. Object Number: 1361730  Size: SH
  7. Clean any dirt from the fuel pressure regulator (3) and the surrounding area.
  8. Remove the fuel pressure regulator screws (4, 5).
  9. Pull the fuel pressure regulator (3) and O-ring seal (2) from the fuel rail (1).
  10. Discard the O-ring seal (2).

  11. Pull the fuel rail return pipe (6) and O-ring seal (7) from the fuel pressure regulator (3).
  12. Discard the O-ring seal (7).

  13. Inspect the regulator filter screen for contamination. If contaminated, replace the fuel pressure regulator.

Installation Procedure


    Object Number: 1361730  Size: SH
  1. Install the new fuel pressure regulator filter.
  2. Lightly lubricate the O-ring seals (2, 7) with mineral oil GM P/N 9981704.
  3. Install the new O-ring seals (2, 7) to the following:
  4. • The fuel pressure regulator (3)
    • The fuel rail return pipe (6)
  5. Press the fuel rail return pipe (6) and O-ring seal (7) into the fuel pressure regulator (3).
  6. Press the fuel pressure regulator (3) and O-ring seal (2) into the fuel rail (1).
  7. Notice: Refer to Fastener Notice in the Preface section.

  8. Install the fuel pressure regulator screws (4, 5).
  9. Tighten
    Tighten the fuel pressure regulator screws to 8 N·m (71 lb in).

  10. Connect the atmospheric vent hose (2) to the fuel pressure regulator (3).

  11. Object Number: 1361724  Size: SH
  12. Connect the fuel return hose/pipe (1) to the fuel rail. Refer to Metal Collar Quick Connect Fitting Service .
  13. Inspect for leaks.
  14. 9.1. Turn ON the ignition for 2 seconds.
    9.2. Turn OFF the ignition for 10 seconds.
    9.3. Turn ON the ignition.
    9.4. Inspect for fuel leaks.
