Removal Procedure

  1. Partially drain the fuel tank below the level of the fuel filler hose. Refer to Fuel Tank Draining .
  2. Raise and support the vehicle, high enough to access the fuel filler hose through the wheelhouse liner. Refer to Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle in General Information.
  3. Remove the left pickup box wheelhouse liner. Refer to Pickup Box Wheelhouse Liner Replacement in Body Rear End.

  4. Object Number: 1361728  Size: SH
  5. Remove the bolt (3) securing the fuel filler hose ground strap to the frame (2).

  6. Object Number: 1361710  Size: SH
  7. Disconnect the fuel filler hose (4) from the fuel tank (3).
  8. Disconnect the evaporative emission (EVAP) hose (2) from the filler vent tube (1). Refer to Plastic Collar Quick Connect Fitting Service .

  9. Object Number: 1361727  Size: SH
  10. Remove the fuel filler hose screws.
  11. Remove the fuel filler hose from the vehicle.
  12. Cap the open end of the fuel tank.

Installation Procedure

  1. Uncap the fuel tank.

  2. Object Number: 1361727  Size: SH
  3. Position the fuel filler hose to the fender.
  4. Notice: Refer to Fastener Notice in the Preface section.

  5. Install the fuel filler hose screws.
  6. Tighten
    Tighten the fuel filler hose screws to 2 N·m (18 lb in).

  7. Connect the fuel filler hose (4) to the fuel tank (3).
  8. Tighten
    Tighten the fuel filler hose clamp to 2.5 N·m (22 lb in).

  9. Connect the EVAP hose (2) to the filler vent tube (1). Refer to Plastic Collar Quick Connect Fitting Service .

  10. Object Number: 1361728  Size: SH
  11. Install the bolt (3) securing the fuel filler hose ground strap to the frame (2).
  12. Tighten
    Tighten the fuel filler hose ground strap bolt to 9 N·m (80 lb in).

  13. Install the left pickup box wheelhouse liner. Refer to Pickup Box Wheelhouse Liner Replacement in Body Rear End.
  14. Lower the vehicle.
  15. Refill the fuel tank.
  16. Install the fuel fill cap.
  17. Inspect for leaks.
