Removal Procedure

Caution: Refer to Fuel and Evaporative Emission Pipe Caution in the Preface section.

Caution: Refer to Gasoline/Gasoline Vapors Caution in the Preface section.

Notice: Refer to Fuel and Evaporative Emission Hose/Pipe Connection Cleaning Notice in the Preface section.

  1. Relieve the fuel system pressure. Refer to Fuel Pressure Relief .

  2. Object Number: 1361724  Size: SH
  3. Refer to Metal Collar Quick Connect Fitting Service in order to disconnect the following from the fuel rail:
  4. • The fuel return hose/pipe (1)
    • The fuel feed hose/pipe (2)
  5. Disconnect the evaporative emission (EVAP) pipe (7, 8) from the EVAP canister purge solenoid valve. Refer to Plastic Collar Quick Connect Fitting Service
  6. Disengage the EVAP/fuel pipe retaining clips from the following:
  7. • The oil indicator tube (3)
    • The engine wiring harness bracket (4)
  8. Raise and support the vehicle. Refer to Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle in General Information.
  9. Disengage the EVAP/fuel pipe retaining clips from the EVAP/fuel pipe brackets (5, 6).

  11. Refer to Plastic Collar Quick Connect Fitting Service in order to disconnect the following from the EVAP/fuel pipes:
  12. • The chassis fuel return pipe (1)
    • The chassis fuel feed pipe (2)
    • The chassis EVAP pipe (3)
  13. Remove the EVAP/fuel hose/pipe assembly from the vehicle.

Installation Procedure

  1. Position the EVAP/fuel hose/pipe assembly up into the engine compartment along the engine and transmission.

  2. Object Number: 1361725  Size: SH
  3. Refer to Plastic Collar Quick Connect Fitting Service in order to connect the following to the EVAP/fuel pipes:
  4. • The chassis fuel return pipe (1)
    • The chassis fuel feed pipe (2)
    • The chassis EVAP pipe (3)

  5. Secure the EVAP/fuel pipe retaining clips to the EVAP/fuel pipe brackets (5, 6).
  6. Lower the vehicle.
  7. Secure the EVAP/fuel pipe retaining clips to the following:
  8. • The oil indicator tube (3)
    • The engine wiring harness bracket (4)
  9. Connect the EVAP pipe (7, 8) to the EVAP canister purge solenoid valve. Refer to Plastic Collar Quick Connect Fitting Service
  10. Refer to Metal Collar Quick Connect Fitting Service in order to connect the following to the fuel rail:
  11. • The fuel return hose/pipe (1)
    • The fuel feed hose/pipe (2)
  12. Inspect for leaks using the following procedure:
  13. 8.1. Turn ON the ignition, with the engine OFF for 2 seconds.
    8.2. Turn OFF the ignition, for 10 seconds.
    8.3. Turn ON the ignition, with the engine OFF.
    8.4. Inspect for fuel leaks.
