Did you perform the Diagnostic System Check - Vehicle?

  1. Turn ON the ignition, with the engine OFF.
  2. Ensure that the windshield washer switch is OFF.

Is the windshield washer pump ON?

Go to Step 3

Go to Testing for Intermittent Conditions and Poor Connections

Disconnect the windshield wiper/washer switch connector.

Do the windshield washers stop?

Go to Step 6

Go to Step 4

  1. Disconnect the body control module (BCM) J2 connector.
  2. Test the windshield washer pump control circuit from the switch for a short to voltage. Refer to Testing for a Short to Voltage and Wiring Repairs .

Did you find and correct the condition?

Go to Step 8

  1. Disconnect the BCM J1 connector.
  2. Test the windshield washer pump control circuit to the pump for a short to voltage. Refer to Testing for a Short to Voltage and Wiring Repairs .

Replace the windshield wiper/washer switch. Refer to Turn Signal Multifunction Switch Replacement .

Replace the BCM. Refer to Control Module References for replacement, setup, and programming.

Operate the system in order to verify the repair.
