Removal Procedure

  1. Raise and support the vehicle. Refer to Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle in General Information.
  2. Remove the front wheels. Refer to Tire and Wheel Removal and Installation in Tires and Wheels.
  3. Remove the rear transaxle mount. Refer to Transmission Rear Mount Replacement in Manual Transmission - Getrag 5 Speed, or Transmission Rear Mount Replacement in Manual Transmission - MU3, or Transmission Rear Mount Replacement in Automatic l Transaxle - 4T40-E/4T45-E.
  4. Remove the steering gear. Refer to Steering Gear Replacement in Power Steering.
  5. Disconnect the stabilizer links from the stabilizer shaft. Refer to Stabilizer Shaft Link Replacement .

  6. Object Number: 851715  Size: SH
  7. Remove the stabilizer bar mounting clamp bolts and clamps from both sides of the vehicle.

  8. Object Number: 851718  Size: SH
  9. Remove the bushings from the stabilizer bar.
  10. Lift and rotate the stabilizer bar up and to the right.
  11. Carefully remove the stabilizer bar from the right side of the vehicle.

Installation Procedure

  1. Move the stabilizer bar into position from the right side of the vehicle.

  2. Object Number: 851718  Size: SH
  3. Install the stabilizer bushings on the stabilizer bar with the cut line facing rearward.
  4. Notice: Refer to Fastener Notice in the Preface section.

  5. Install the stabilizer bar clamps and bolts.
  6. Tighten
    Tighten the bolts to 50 N·m (37 lb ft).

  7. Connect the stabilizer links to the stabilizer shaft. Refer to Stabilizer Shaft Link Replacement .
  8. Install the steering gear. Refer to Steering Gear Replacement in Power Steering.
  9. Install the rear transaxle mount. Refer to Transmission Rear Mount Replacement in Manual Transmission - Getrag 5 Speed, or Transmission Rear Mount Replacement in Manual Transmission - MU3, or Transmission Rear Mount Replacement in Automatic Transaxle - 4T40-E/4T45-E.
  10. Install the front wheels. Refer to Tire and Wheel Removal and Installation in Tires and Wheels.
  11. Lower the vehicle.
