Did you perform the Diagnostic System Check - Vehicle?

  1. Turn ON the ignition, with the engine OFF.
  2. Place the turn signal lever in the LEFT turn position.
  3. Place the turn signal lever in the RIGHT turn position.

Do the appropriate turn signal lamps and/or indicators illuminate for each action?

Go to Testing for Intermittent Conditions and Poor Connections

Is only one turn signal lamp inoperative?

Go to Step 6

Is one or both of the turn signal indicators inoperative?

Go to Step 5

  1. Using a scan tool, command the turn signals for the appropriate side ON.
  2. Observe the turn signal indicators.

Does the appropriate turn signal indicator illuminate and flash?

Go to Step 13

  1. Disconnect the inoperative turn signal lamp.
  2. Probe the turn signal supply voltage circuit of the inoperative lamp with a test lamp that is connected to a good ground.
  3. Place the turn signal lever in the position of the inoperative lamp.

Does the test lamp illuminate and flash?

Do the hazard lamps operate properly?

  1. Disconnect the turn signal/multifunction switch.
  2. Connect a 3-amp fuse jumper wire between the left turn signal switch signal circuit of the turn signal/multifunction switch and a good ground.

Do the left turn lamps illuminate and flash?

Connect the 3-amp fused jumper wire between the left turn signal switch signal circuit of the turn signal/multifunction switch and the ground circuit of the turn signal/multifunction switch.

Do the left turn lamps illuminate and flash?

Test the left turn signal switch signal circuit for an open or high resistance. Refer to Circuit Testing and Wiring Repairs .

Inspect for poor connections at the harness connector of the instrument panel cluster (IPC). Refer to Testing for Intermittent Conditions and Poor Connections and Connector Repairs .

Inspect for poor connections at the harness connector of the turn/headlamp/wiper switch. Refer to Testing for Intermittent Conditions and Poor Connections and Connector Repairs .

Inspect for poor connections at the harness connector of the body control module (BCM). Refer to Testing for Intermittent Conditions and Poor Connections and Connector Repairs .

Repair an open or high resistance in the ground circuit of the inoperative lamp. Refer to Circuit Testing and Wiring Repairs .

Repair an open, high resistance, or short to ground in the inoperative turn signal supply voltage circuit. Refer to Circuit Testing and Wiring Repairs .
