Removal Procedure

  1. Raise and support the vehicle. Refer to Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle in General Information.

  2. Object Number: 879141  Size: SH
  3. Disconnect the electrical connector from the evaporative emission (EVAP) canister vent solenoid valve.

  4. Object Number: 889726  Size: SH
  5. Disconnect the hose connections (1, 2, 3) from the EVAP canister.

  6. Object Number: 889739  Size: SH
  7. Remove the EVAP canister retaining bolt (1).

  8. Object Number: 889740  Size: SH
  9. Remove the EVAP canister assembly toward the outboard side of the vehicle.
  10. Notice: The EVAP canister may have released carbon particles which caused this part to fail and may cause damage to other components. Check the EVAP canister for loose carbon before returning the vehicle to service.

  11. If the EVAP canister is to be reused, inspect the canister for loose carbon.

Installation Procedure


    Object Number: 889740  Size: SH
  1. Insert the retaining tab of the EVAP canister into the slotted bracket on the vehicle underbody.
  2. Notice: Refer to Fastener Notice in the Preface section.


    Object Number: 889739  Size: SH
  3. Install the EVAP canister retaining bolt (1).
  4. Tighten
    Tighten the bolt to 10 N·m (89 lb in).

  5. Connect the hose connections (1, 2, 3) to the EVAP canister.

  6. Object Number: 879141  Size: SH
  7. Connect the electrical connector to the EVAP canister vent solenoid valve.
  8. Lower the vehicle.
