Removal Procedure

  1. Disable the SIR system. Refer to SIR Disabling and Enabling and SIR Disabling and Enabling in SIR.

  2. Object Number: 743389  Size: SH
  3. Remove the screws from the lower steering column trim cover.
  4. Remove the upper trim cover from the steering column.

  5. Object Number: 743395  Size: SH
  6. Remove the screws from the I/P cluster trim plate.

  7. Object Number: 743391  Size: SH
  8. Gently pry out the I/P cluster trim plate form the I/P carrier with a small flat-bladed tool.
  9. Remove the I/P cluster trim plate from the I/P carrier.
  10. Disconnect the electrical connector from the I/P dimmer switch.
  11. Disconnect the electrical connector from the hazard warning switch.

Installation Procedure

  1. Connect the electrical connector to the hazard warning switch.
  2. Connect the electrical connector to the I/P dimmer switch.
  3. Align the cluster trim plate tabs to the retainers.
  4. Install the I/P cluster trim plate to the I/P carrier.

    Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified. These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.

  6. Install the screws to the I/P cluster trim plate.
  7. Tighten
    Tighten the screws to 2.3 N·m (20 lb in).

  8. Install the upper trim cover to the steering column.
  9. Install the screws to the lower steering column trim cover.
  10. Tighten
    Tighten the screws to 2.3 N·m (20 lb in).

  11. Enable the SIR system. Refer to SIR Disabling and Enabling and to SIR Disabling and Enabling in SIR.
