PACKARD 32 WAY CONNECTOR IDENTIFICATION APPLICATIONS

VEHICLES AFFECTED: ALL TRUCKS

This bulletin serves to clarify the labeling of the Packard 32 way connectors used on the GMP4 under dash ECMs.

Currently a common strain relief is used in both the C-D 32 pin and the E-F 32 pin connector. To properly identify these connectors, the strain reliefs must be removed. Use the lettering on the connector as shown on the attached document.

The colours used at this time for the 32 pin E-F connector are yellow, mint green or orange.

This updates any previous information released concerning identification that indicates any of these colours as being C & D connectors.

dated January, 1985. This bulletin provides the recommended service procedure for correcting this condition.

2. On 1983 models set ignition timing at 6 DEG BTDC from 0 DEG TDC. On 1984 models timing should be checked to assure 6 DEG BTDC.

THE TIMING CONNECTOR MAY BE LEFT DISCONNECTED, FOR THE NEXT STEP.

General Motors bulletins are intended for use by professional technicians, not a "do-it-yourselfer". They are written to inform those technicians of conditions that may occur on some vehicles, or to provide information that could assist in the proper service of a vehicle. Properly trained technicians have the equipment, tools, safety instructions and know-how to do a job properly and safely. If a condition is described, do not assume that the bulletin applies to your vehicle, or that your vehicle will have that condition. See a General Motors dealer servicing your brand of General Motors vehicle for information on whether your vehicle may benefit from the information.
