Subject:02-05 Chevrolet/GMC Full Size Truck/Utilities with Quadrasteer (NYS) Excessive Tire Spin Setting DTC C0543

Models:.

The following diagnosis might be helpful if the vehicle exhibits the symptom described in the PI.

Condition/Concern:

A customer may comment about a concern with the "Service 4 Wheel Steer" message on the DIC and the system defaulting to 2WS mode. DTC C0543 will be set and may be accompanied by a C0000. This condition may happen if the steering wheel is turned more than 90 degrees from center and the tires/wheels spin, like on snow, ice, loose gravel, etc.

Recommendation/Instructions:

No repairs should be made. This is a normal concern due to the rear wheels changing phases as vehicle speed increases, and if the wheels are spin the rear wheels are changing from "out of phase" to "in phase". When this condition is present, the DTCs could set.

.

Please follow this diagnosis process thoroughly and complete each step. If the condition exhibited is resolved without completing every step, the remaining steps do not need to be performed. If these steps do not resolve the condition, please contact GM TAC for further diagnostic assistance.
