Did you perform the Audible Warning Diagnostic System Check?

Are any indicators illuminated?

  1. Turn the ignition OFF.
  2. Turn the headlamp switch to OFF.
  3. Remove the key from the ignition.
  4. Open the driver door.

Does the chime sound?

--

  1. Install a scan tool.
  2. Turn the ignition ON, with the engine OFF.
  3. With the scan tool observe the Head Lamp Relay Feedback parameter in the BCM Input 2 data display.

Does the Head Lamp Relay Feedback parameter display ON?

  1. Open and close the driver door.
  2. With the scan tool observe the Driver Door Jamb Switch parameter in the BCM Input 1 data list.

Does the Driver Door Jamb Switch parameter toggle between ACTIVE and INACTIVE?

  1. Disconnect the driver door jamb switch.
  2. With the scan tool observe the Driver Door Jamb Switch parameter in the BCM Input 1 data list.

Does the Driver Door Jamb Switch parameter display ACTIVE?

Test the driver door jamb switch signal circuit for a short to ground. Refer to Circuit Testing and to Wiring Repairs in Wiring Systems.

  1. Disconnect the ignition switch connector C201.
  2. Install a scan tool.
  3. Turn the ignition ON, with the engine OFF.
  4. With the scan tool, observe the Key In Ignition parameter in the BCM Input 1 data list.

Does the Key In Ignition parameter display YES?

Test the key in ignition switch signal circuit for a short to ground between the BCM and C201. Refer to Circuit Testing and to Wiring Repairs in Wiring Systems.

Replace the BCM. Refer to Body Control Module Replacement in Body Control System.
