Valve rocker arm studs that have damaged threads or are loose in cylinder heads should be replaced. New studs are available in 0.0762 mm (0.003 in) and 0.3302 mm (0.013 in) oversize.

  1. Place the J 5802-A over the stud to be removed.
  2. Install a nut and a flat washer.
  3. Remove the stud by turning the nut.

  5. Ream the hole to the proper size for the replacement oversize stud. Use J 5715 for 0.0762 mm (0.003 in) oversize studs, or J 6036 for 0.3302 mm (0.013 in) oversize studs.
  6. Coat the lower end (press-fit area) of stud with hypoid axle lubricant.

  7. Object Number: 66504  Size: SH
  8. Drive the stud into place with a hammer and J 6880 . The stud is installed to proper depth when the tool bottoms on the cylinder head.
