DOOR PANEL FIT/RETENTION INSTALL NEW DOOR TRIM FASTENER

SUBJECT: DOOR PANEL FIT/RETENTION

MODEL and YEAR: 1988-92 C/K TRUCKS

Owners of some 1988-92 C/K models may experience poor door trim panel fit or lack of retention between the door trim panel and the door.

SERVICE PROCEDURE:

Install new door trim panel retainers (P/N 15953247).

1. Remove the trim panel pull strap (if equipped).

2. Remove the door handle bezel.

3. Remove the armrest screws. It is not necessary to remove the armrest from the panel.

4. Remove the window handle (if equipped) using tool J9886-01 or equivalent.

5. Remove the door trim panel.

- Use tool J 24595-C or equivalent to remove the nylon fasteners from the inner door panel.

- The Switch bezel will fit through the cut-out in the trim panel.

6. Install the new retainers (P/N 15953247) to the door trim panel.

7. Install the door trim panel to the door.

- Put the door trim panel in place on the door and push the nylon fasteners into the holes on the door.

- The switch bezel will fit through the cut-out in the door trim panel.

8. Install the window handle (if equipped).

9. Install the armrest screws.

10. Install the door handle bezel.

11. Install the pull strap (if Required).

For vehicles repaired under warranty use:
