This bulletin is being revised to add model years and update the information for TAC model year coverage. Please discard Corporate Bulletin Number 07-00-89-047A (Section 00 - General Information).

General Motors Technical Assistance Center (TAC) changed to a current and previous nine (9) model year support plan in September 2007. TAC will continue to offer service support for 2000 and newer models.

For vehicles over 10 years old (1999 and older), GM TAC support is available only when the vehicle issue is related to any of the following:

    • A recall
    • A component covered by a special policy
    • A component covered under warranty (i.e. powertrain component)

The role of TAC is to provide GM dealerships assistance to help consumers. We accomplish that through research, validation, communication and publication of diagnostic information to improve the consumer’s GM service experience. An analysis of cases, where TAC supported vehicles over ten years old, indicated TAC served as an administrative function to retrieve information published and available at the dealership level. This direction will enable TAC to be more efficient in generating better and timelier information on newer and more complex vehicle concerns benefiting everyone.

Your support to eliminate calls on vehicles over 10 years old is critical. If calling on a vehicle over 10 years old and covered by a recall, or special policy, be prepared to provide the SI bulletin. If calling on an older vehicle component in warranty, be prepared to provide the original repair order and date of replacement.
