DIESEL COLD START IDLE SPEED CHANGE INFORMATION

Subject: 1982 "C, K, P" 10-30 6.2L DIESEL - FAST IDLE SPEED CHANGE

During cold weather operation, the cold start quality and heater warm-up time on vehicles produced prior to March, 1982 can be improved by increasing the fast idle by 100 rpm (from 700 rpm to 800 rpm). This change was made in production to make these improvements.

If a comment on cold start quality or heater warm-up is received, increase the fast idle speed using procedures outlined in Chevrolet Dealer Service Technical Bulletin 82-T-79 .

General Motors bulletins are intended for use by professional technicians, not a "do-it-yourselfer". They are written to inform those technicians of conditions that may occur on some vehicles, or to provide information that could assist in the proper service of a vehicle. Properly trained technicians have the equipment, tools, safety instructions and know-how to do a job properly and safely. If a condition is described, do not assume that the bulletin applies to your vehicle, or that your vehicle will have that condition. See a General Motors dealer servicing your brand of General Motors vehicle for information on whether your vehicle may benefit from the information.
