HEAD BOLTS/CLAMP LOAD DIESEL NEW BOLTS AVAILABLE

Model and Year 1982-84 "C/K" (10, 20, AND 30 SERIES) TRUCK 1983-84 "G" VAN AND "P" TRUCK (20 AND 30 SERIES)

New head bolts are being used on 1984 6.2L diesel engines in production. The bolt is available from WDDGM as P/N 14077193. Whenever a head is removed from a 1982-83 engine, replace the head bolts with this new bolt. The new bolt provides a more even clamp load.

Whenever head bolts are changed, be sure to reference Chevrolet Dealer Service Technical Bulletin 83-T-76 for correct installation procedure. Also be sure to use a teflon type sealing compound, such as P/N 1052080 or equivalent, on the bolt threads and under bolt head.

General Motors bulletins are intended for use by professional technicians, not a "do-it-yourselfer". They are written to inform those technicians of conditions that may occur on some vehicles, or to provide information that could assist in the proper service of a vehicle. Properly trained technicians have the equipment, tools, safety instructions and know-how to do a job properly and safely. If a condition is described, do not assume that the bulletin applies to your vehicle, or that your vehicle will have that condition. See a General Motors dealer servicing your brand of General Motors vehicle for information on whether your vehicle may benefit from the information.
