AC-DELCO ADVANCE EXCHANGE PGM. PHONE NUMBER CHANGE

Subject: A/C DELCO ADVANCE EXCHANGE PROGRAMS

Model and Year: 1982-92 ALL PASSENGER CARS AND TRUCKS (EXCEPT GEO)

THIS BULLETIN CANCELS AND SUPERSEDES DEALER SERVICE BULLETIN NO. 901-388-OA, DATED AUGUST 1991. THE TELEPHONE NUMBERS IN THE LAST PARAGRAPH HAVE BEEN CHANGED AND THE 1992 MODEL YEAR HAS BEEN ADDED. ALL COPIES OF 91-388-OA SHOULD BE DISCARDED.

The purpose of this service bulletin is to review the current AC-DELCO Exchange Program with all GM Service Personnel.

Most later model General Motors vehicles which have factory installed Electronic Instrument Clusters, Driver Information Center Controllers, Electronic Control Modules for Delco Moraine Anti-Lock Braking Systems, Diagnostic Energy Reserve Modules for the Supplemental Inflatable Restraint System, Dealer-Installed Cellular Telephone System, or Communications Data Module Radio are serviced by an Exchange/Repair program.

The Exchange/Repair program provides new or repaired exchange units for inoperative ones at a cost substantially below new replacement parts. This corporate warranty program is administered by Service Parts Operations, through authorized AC-Delco Service Centers.

When a dealer has determined the need for an exchange unit, it is to be obtained by telephoning an authorized AC-Delco Service Center (SEE ATTACHED LIST). After providing vehicle detail information to the center, an agreement is reached on part number and method of shipment. The product will be shipped within 24 hours of the request with a memo billing that will be cancelled when the inoperative unit is received by the Service Center from which the exchange unit was obtained.

The inoperative product is to be returned to the supplying Service Center in the reusable shipping container which contained the exchange product, and a pre-addressed shipping label. For those vehicles in-warranty, a completed GSD-774 warranty claim form with brief description of the complaint, must also accompany the returned product.

Failure to return the inoperative unit in the SPECIAL REUSABLE CONTAINER will result in a container replacement fee. Failure to return the GSD-774 within 30 days of the date the exchange unit was shipped, will result in a repair fee. Failure to retum the inoperative unit within 30 days of the date the exchange unit was shipped, will result in a replacement fee.

It is crucial to return the inoperative unit to ensure a successful Exchange Program. Should you have any problems locating an exchange product, please call the GMSPO Product Service Department at (313) 635-1542.

General Motors bulletins are intended for use by professional technicians, not a "do-it-yourselfer". They are written to inform those technicians of conditions that may occur on some vehicles, or to provide information that could assist in the proper service of a vehicle. Properly trained technicians have the equipment, tools, safety instructions and know-how to do a job properly and safely. If a condition is described, do not assume that the bulletin applies to your vehicle, or that your vehicle will have that condition. See a General Motors dealer servicing your brand of General Motors vehicle for information on whether your vehicle may benefit from the information.
