Subject:Warranty Administration Bulletin 00-05-22-002C for Brake Warranty, Service and Procedures - Required Measurement Documentation

Models:All GM Passenger Cars and Trucks
All HUMMER H2

The following message pertains Warranty Administrative Bulletin 00-05-22-002C for Brake Warranty, Service and Procedures, released on February 5, 2004. Please make sure this information gets into the hands of the Warranty Administrator at your dealership. I am sending this message out as a reminder that on April 15, 2004, if required Repair Order (R.O.) and Warranty System (WINS) documentation is not present pertaining to the Brake Labor Operations referenced in this bulletin, these claims will be subject to system rejection.

The required documentation is straightforward, and only the following information needs to be recorded:

1) An Original and Refinished thickness measurement for each rotor serviced needs to be recorded on the R.O.

2a) A Lateral Run Out (LRO) measurement taken during steps 10 and 11 of the Brake Bulletin Service Procedure (not when the customer first comes into the dealership), for each rotor serviced, needs to be recorded on the R.O.

2b) Also, this same LRO measurement needs to be recorded in the Warranty System (WINS) in the Failure Code field of the claims submission.

3) If use of a Correction Plate is necessary, the part number needs to be recorded on the R.O.

4) And finally, if Brake Rotors or Pads are replaced, explanation of Part Replacement is required on the R.O.

Please review the bulletin information found on page 2 for these specific documentation details.

Example: Repair Order Documentation for Labor Operation *H0042 for front brake pulsation complaint under warranty (Pads not replaced & Rotors refinished):

Note: For your convenience you can use the GM Brake Service Repair Order Documentation Form found on the last page of the bulletin, fill in the appropriate blanks for the labor operation used and attached it to the R.O. (Ink stamps can be used, but make sure it contains all of the required information). In instances of ink stamps and Electronic R.O. documentation, you can use the following abbreviations:

For Rotor Thickness measurement R.O. documentation use:

1) *OLF=1.267 inch (for Original Left Front)

*RLF=1.262 inch (for Refinished Left Front)

*ORF=1.230 inch (for Original Right Front)

*RRF=1.223 inch (for Refinished Right Front)

OLR=_____mm/inch (for Original Left Rear)

RLR=_____mm/inch (for Refinished Left Rear)

ORR=_____mm/inch (for Original Right Rear)

RRR=_____mm/inch (for Refinished Right Rear)

For Lateral Run-Out measurement R.O. documentation use:

2a) *LLF=.004 inch (for Lateral Run-Out Left Front)

*LRF=.002 inch (for Lateral Run-Out Right Front)

LLR=_____ inch (for Lateral Run-Out Left Rear)

LRR=_____ inch (for Lateral Run-Out Right Rear)

For Warranty System (WINS) Documentation in the Failure Code field of the claims submission for the same Labor Operation (*H0042) above use:

2b) *04R02 (Note: the first 0 is dropped from each measurement (inch) since the system can only accommodate five fields. Also, if H0042 is used for a noise complaint and only the pads are serviced (sanded)/rotors are not serviced (disturbed), use: NARNA).

For Correction Plate part number R.O. documentation use:

3) *801-03 (for above LLF measurement greater than .002 inch)

For Part Replacement R.O. documentation use:

4) RF rotor replaced, under Minimum Thickness spec after refinish

The final Required R.O./WINS documentation from the above example would look like the following:

H0042

R.O.

OLF=1.267 inch

RLF=1.262 inch

ORF=1.230 inch

RRF=1.223 inch

WINS 04R02

LLF=.004 inch

LRF=.002 inch

801-03

RF rotor replaced, under Minimum Thickness spec after refinish
