03 - 05 Chevrolet/GMC Full Size Trucks/Utilities with Quadrasteer (NYS) Service 4 Wheel Steer Message with DTC C0455 - kw light inoperative code communication module information control data rear

The following diagnosis might be helpful if the vehicle exhibits the symptom(s) described in the PI.

Owners may have an intermittent concern of the Service 4 Wheel Steer Message being displayed on the DIC. This condition may occur if the steering wheel is turned within the first few seconds of starting the engine or under normal driving conditions. When checking for DTC's a C0455 will be stored in the Quadrasteer Module. The Quadrasteer Module and TBCM compares the Steering Wheel Position Data over the Class 2 circuit. At times the Class 2 buss can get very busy and the SWP message could be delayed.

New BCM software is available to correct this concern. Reprogram the BCM with updated software released on January 26, 2005 TIS version 1.75 or later.

Please follow this diagnosis process thoroughly and complete each step. If the condition exhibited is resolved without completing every step, the remaining steps do not need to be performed.
