Removal Procedure

    Object Number: 424550 Size: SH
  1. Remove the air cleaner outlet resonator. Refer to Air Cleaner Outlet Resonator Replacement .
  2. Remove the air cleaner outlet resonator stud.

    3. Object Number: 781993 Size: SH
  3. Remove the cruise control cable from the throttle pulley.
  4. Remove the cruise control cable from the engine bracket.

    5. Object Number: 781990 Size: SH
  5. Remove the accelerator control cable from the accelerator control bracket.
  6. Remove the accelerator control cable from the engine bracket.

    7. Object Number: 325556 Size: SH
  7. Remove the accelerator control cable slug from the throttle pulley.

    8. Object Number: 398030 Size: SH
  8. Remove the accelerator control cable bracket nuts.
  9. Remove the accelerator control cable bracket with the cables attached, from the throttle body.
  10. Position and secure the bracket and cables out of the way.

  11. Disconnect the following electrical connectors:
    12. • Throttle position (TP) sensor (1)
    • Idle air control (IAC) valve (2)

  12. Remove the throttle body studs.

    13. Object Number: 12853 Size: SH
  13. Remove the throttle body.
  14. Remove and discard the throttle body seal.

Installation Procedure

    Object Number: 12853 Size: SH
  1. Install a NEW throttle body seal and the throttle body.

    2. Object Number: 12852 Size: SH

    Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified. These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.

  2. Install the throttle body studs.

    3. Tighten
    Tighten the studs to 9 N·m (80 lb in).

  3. Connect the following electrical connectors:
    4. • TP sensor (1)
    • IAC valve (2)

    Object Number: 398030 Size: SH
  4. Position the bracket and cables.
  5. Install the accelerator control cable bracket with the cables attached, to the throttle body.
  6. Install the accelerator control cable bracket nuts.

    7. Tighten
    Tighten the nuts to 10 N·m (89 lb in).

  7. Install the accelerator control cable slug to the throttle pulley.

    8. Object Number: 781990 Size: SH
  8. Install the accelerator control cable to the engine bracket.
  9. Install the accelerator control cable to the accelerator control bracket.

    10. Object Number: 781993 Size: SH
  10. Install the cruise control cable to the engine bracket.
  11. Install the cruise control cable to the throttle pulley.

    12. Object Number: 424550 Size: SH
  12. Install the air cleaner outlet resonator stud.

    13. Tighten
    Tighten the stud to 10 N·m (89 lb in).

  13. Install the air cleaner outlet resonator. Refer to Air Cleaner Outlet Resonator Replacement .
