Removal Procedure

    Object Number: 663672 Size: SH
  1. Install the engine sight shield. Refer to Upper Intake Manifold Sight Shield Replacement in Engine Mechanical-4.8L, 5.3L, and 6.0L.
  2. Disconnect the evaporative emission (EVAP) purge solenoid electrical connector (1).

  3. Remove the EVAP purge solenoid vent tube by performing the following:
    4. 3.1. Push the retainer inward and pull up on the connector.
    3.2. Remove the EVAP tube (2) end from the solenoid (1).

  4. Remove the EVAP purge solenoid bolt (2), solenoid (3) and isolator (1) from the manifold.

Installation Procedure

    Object Number: 389993 Size: SH

    Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified. These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.

  1. Install the EVAP purge solenoid (3), isolator (1), and bolt (2) to the manifold.

    2. Tighten
    Tighten the bolt to 10.5 N·m (93 lb in).

  2. Install the EVAP purge solenoid vent tube to the solenoid (1).

  3. Connect the EVAP purge solenoid electrical connector (1).
  4. Install the engine sight shield. Refer to Upper Intake Manifold Sight Shield Replacement in Engine Mechanical-4.8L, 5.3L, and 6.0L.
