MANUAL TEMP. CONTROL LEVER SLIPS FROM HOT TO COLD

SUBJECT: MANUAL TEMPERATURE CONTROL LEVER SLIPS FROM HOT TO COLD (INSTALL E RING)

MODELS: 1988-94 CHEVROLET AND GMC TRUCK C/K TRUCKS 1990-94 TOPKICK/KODIAK WITHOUT AIR CONDITIONING (C60)

CONDITION:

SOME OWNERS MAY COMMENT THAT THE TEMPERATURE CONTROL LEVER SLIPS FROM HOT TO COLD, USUALLY WHEN BLOWER MOTOR IS ON HIGH SPEED.

CAUSE:

TOO MUCH VERTICAL MOVEMENT AT THE LEVER ARM PIVOT SHAFT (FIGURE 1).

CORRECTION:

SHIM CLEARANCE AT THE PIVOT SHAFT BY INSTALLING AN "E" RING CLIP BETWEEN THE METAL AND SILICONE WASHERS ALREADY PRESENT ON THE SHAFT (FIGURE 2).
